Welcome to the Manufacturing Intelligence Laboratory (MIL) at San Diego State University. Our mission is to advance intelligent and autonomous manufacturing through the integration of advanced sensing, physics-informed AI, digital twins, and agentic AI. We develop integrated technologies that combine multimodal sensing, sensor fusion, machine learning, computer vision, metrology, and cyber-physical systems to enable real-time monitoring, prediction, optimization, and autonomous prediction and decision-making in complex manufacturing processes. Our primary applications include additive manufacturing, machining, shipbuilding, and semiconductor manufacturing. The sensing and AI methodologies developed through this research are also extended to other complex physical systems, including infrastructure monitoring, leak and fire detection, biotechnology, and wearable health monitoring.
